SAP Feature: Co-Locating Housing on Campuses

Posted on: October 2, 2024

Oak Gardens brings 62 units of much needed housing to the Menlo Park Veterans Affairs campus. Finding affordable housing nearby is a major challenge, with many traveling over 2 hours to make physical therapy and mental health appointments.

By co-locating housing on the campus, new residents will have easy and convenient access to their VA appointments, AND will be close to shops, libraries, community centers, schools, jobs, and other high opportunity resources in Menlo Park. Co-locating housing on campus eases the burden of commuting for care, and gives residents the gift of time to pursue new educational or professional goals.

Elaine Uang, Project Architect of Oak Gardens summarizes, “Above all, co-locating housing on campus improves the quality of life of VA members and their families.
